Welcoming Event
Screening of Love & Friendship (UK, 2016), directed by W. Stillman.
Cinema Arsenale (Vicolo Scaramucci 2), 9 pm.
The first of the events organised in connection with the AIA conference to mark the bicentenary of Jane Austen’s death. Love & Friendship (UK, 2016) is a very recent addition to the rich and ever expanding crop of Austen-inspired movies. Directed by W. Stillman and based on the posthumously published novella, Lady Susan, the film has been widely praised for its ability to capture the experimental feel and witty irreverence of Austen’s juvenilia.
